Road Trips & Day Hikes through Majestic Landscapes

Join us for a 7-day Swiss adventure! Road-trip through scenic landscapes, hike iconic peaks and explore charming villages. From the breathtaking Morteratsch Glacier to tranquil Lake Luzern, immerse yourself in Switzerland’s natural beauty and rich history. Unforgettable moments, cozy nights, and stunning views await!

Day 1
Upon meeting and launching our trip, we head straight to the Lindt chocolate factory—because no visit to Switzerland is complete without indulging in its famous chocolate! After sampling some treats, our journey continues towards the Alps, specifically the canton of Grisons. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring sights ranging from Roman history to World War II. Highlights include Valmala Gorge, Belfort Castle, and the Albula Pass defences.

Day2

The day begins with a hearty breakfast before visiting the Morteratsch Glacier, a striking example of climate change’s impact. A scenic trail leads us 3.6km into the valley, tracing the glacier’s retreat over the years. In the afternoon, we explore the famous high-altitude resort of St. Moritz. Don’t forget your swimsuit—the lake’s refreshing waters are hard to resist!

~7.4km, 240m ascent/descent

Day3 Today we focus on Switzerland’s largest river, the Rhine. In the morning, we’ll journey north via the Julier Pass, a historic route that has connected travelers since Roman times, offering breathtaking alpine views. Once in the Rhine Valley, we’ll walk through the stunning Rhine Canyon (Ruinaulta) and enjoy lunch by the water. Our journey continues up the valley, with a stop at Zumthor’s exquisite Chapel S. Benedetg. From there, we’ll drive to the Oberalp Pass and begin our hike to tonight’s accommodation at the Maighels Hut, nestled amidst spectacular alpine scenery. ~9km, 600m ascent 310m descent Day4 The day begins with an hike to Lake Toma, the official source of the Rhine. As one of Europe’s most important rivers, the Rhine has been a vital trade and cultural route for centuries. After returning to the car, we’ll drive to Altdorf and then on to Schwyz. Along the way, we’ll visit iconic Swiss historic sites, including the Teufelsbrücke, the Wilhelm Tell statue, and the Museum of the Swiss Charters of Confederation. To round off the day, we’ll take a gondola near the Grosser Mythen and enjoy a scenic walk with breathtaking views across Lake Lucerne and surrounding. ~8km, 400m ascent 710m descent Day5 Today’s adventure takes us to Lucerne, a hidden gem of the Swiss Alps. We’ll spend the morning exploring iconic landmarks such as the Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church, Lion Monument, and the city walls, along with the modern Culture and Congress Centre by the lake. After lunch, we’ll hop on a steamboat to Hergiswil, renowned for its lakeside glass manufacture. Here, you can watch glassblowers at work or even try your hand at this fascinating craft. For those who wish, the day can end with a relaxing sauna session at Lake Sarner. ~city stroll Day6 We start our day by the peaceful shores of Lake Brienz, where the emerald waters reflect the towering peaks around us. After a scenic drive along the lake, we arrive in the charming village of Iseltwald (K-drama fans, stay tuned—this village will surely surprise you!). From here, we make our way to Lauterbrunnen, parking at a famous spot where water cascades dramatically over the valley’s edge, right behind a picturesque chapel. Next, we visit the stunning Trümmelbach Falls, tucked away in a narrow gorge. As the day winds down, we head up to the Lobhörner, where we’ll stay tonight, with the option of sleeping under the stars. We’ll cap off the day with a bonfire, grilling "Chlöpfer" (classic Swiss sausages) and stick bread, all while watching the sun cast a golden glow over the high mountains—an unforgettable moment to end our adventure. ~6.4km, 750m ascent 330m descent Day7 Sadly, our journey is drawing to a close, but not before one last adventure into the mountains. We begin the day by hiking down to our van, taking in the final panoramic views. Once in Grindelwald, we’ll explore the breathtaking Glacier Canyon, a natural wonder that will leave you speechless. After soaking in the stunning views, we’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch in the village before slowly making our way north. Our next stop is the picturesque town of Spiez, nestled by the shores of Lake Thun. Here, we’ll admire the historic castle by the water and take in the views as steamboats glide across the lake. As our adventure nears its end, we’ll return to Zürich, carrying with us memories of a truly unforgettable journey through Switzerland’s most stunning landscapes. ~5km, 150m ascent 500m descent

Requirements

You'll need recent hiking experience, including a multi-day hike, and you should test your gear before trekking. Prepare for any weather, with sun, wind, fog, rain, or cold possible. Expect around 4-5 hours of walking per day on trails ranging T1-T3, with brief challenging sections.

Accommodation
We’ll be staying in Hotels or AirBnBs, with twin rooms typically shared by two guests. In the Swiss SAC (Swiss Alpine Club) huts, however, the experience is more rustic and communal, with dormitory-style sleeping arrangements. These huts offer a cozy and authentic alpine experience, often located in remote, scenic spots. The huts provide basic amenities and a welcoming atmosphere, where you can enjoy hearty meals and rest after a day of hiking, all while immersing yourself in the alpine lifestyle.

Meals
Meals are simple, self-cooked, and prepared with care, with lunches enjoyed as a picnic to keep things portable and adaptable. We offer options for vegetarian and lactose-free diets—just let us know your dietary needs so we can plan ahead.

Meeting Point
We’ll meet in downtown Zürich to gather the group and kick things off. Please avoid bringing hard-shell suitcases; duffel bags work best to fit everyone’s gear in the limited trunk space. A friendly reminder: please don’t bring valuables unless you’re willing to carry them with you. We’ll be parking our car overnight at unprotected locations, so we want to ensure your belongings stay safe.

Risks

Emergency exits are limited, and response times may be delayed. Boat/bus schedules depend on the weather, so please allow flexibility for return flights. Participants are responsible for their health and fitness, and a signed waiver is required.
